Douglas County Releases a New and Improved Comprehensive Sex Offender Search Web Site! Includes Email Notification of New Sex Offenders Near You
Douglas County has developed and released a new website for tracking sex offenders COUNTY-WIDE. This is a first and we have access to the website!

We were told by a representative at the Douglas County Sheriff’s office that this system is ground breaking and should stand as a model for other counties. You will see why.
The new site features an easy-to-use search interface, built-in mapping and a notification feature for people that register. That means when a new sex offender shows up, you get an email notification with a link to that offender’s info. Parents and concerned citizens need to sign up now!
Many people are unaware that the typical sex offender list only shows sex offenders found guilty of a FELONY sex crime. Those people with misdemeanor convictions do NOT have their information shown online. If you would like to have access to the complete list, you must make the request in person at the Sheriff’s office. The new website shows where these people reside but does not divulge their name, picture etc, as is done with the felons. It is a fantastic tool for finding out more about where the misdemeanor and felony offenders live.
If a person’s personal information (photo, address, etc) is shown on the Douglas County Sex Offender Online Registry, they have been convicted of one or more of the following crimes:
An adult convicted of a felony requiring the adult to register pursuant to section 16-22-103;
An adult convicted of a second or subsequent offense of any of the following misdemeanors:
Sexual assault as described in section 18-3-402 (1) (e), C.R.S.;
Unlawful sexual contact as described in section 18-3-404, C.R.S.;
Sexual assault on a client as described in section 18-3-405.5 (2), C.R.S.;
Sexual exploitation of a child by possession of sexually exploitive material as described in section 18-6-403 (3) (b.5), C.R.S.;
Indecent exposure as described in section 18-7-302, C.R.S.;
Sexual conduct in a penal institution as described in section 18-7-701, C.R.S.
If they have only had a single conviction they are NOT required to be listed on the website. These people are shown on the complete list available from the Sheriff’s office and shown on the new website as “Non-Web Eligible Sex Offender”.
Their locations are shown on the map but their personal information is not available online.
Take a look at the map we have posted below. The lighter marks are the non-web sex offenders. Pretty scary, isn’t it?
Visit it and be sure to sign up for email notifications when new sex offenders move into your neighborhood.
